Lock washers to DIN 5406 are special components that are used to secure shaft nuts, in particular locknuts to DIN 981 KM, and other components on shafts.

They consist of flat sheet metal with a curved shape that wraps around the shaft and engages in a groove on the nut or component.

Attaching the lock washer prevents the nut or component from coming loose from the shaft, loosening or even falling off.
